Over time, the Firewood Splitter will earn a beautiful, natural patina. As an optional addition to deepen your ritual, the Firewood Splitter can be cared for by sharpening the cast iron and conditioning the surface with wax, if desired.

With durable cast iron construction and a phosphate finish, no maintenance is necessary. If you like, you can optionally sharpen and condition the cast iron blade.
Besides the Firewood Splitter, all you need is a blunt object like the Sledge Hammer to turn a log into kindling. The Firewood Splitter includes the hardware needed to mount it to a steady surface.
The Firewood Splitter's internal frame diameter is 8.5”, and logs wider than this may not fit.
It’s easiest to split soft woods, compared to hard or wet wood. Depending on where you live, the best firewood to burn for kindling might be pine, fir, cedar, yew, and more.
